‘Orange is the New Black’ Opening Credits Re-Cut with Famous Animals

orange is the new black animals parody video

After binge-watching Orange is the New Black, I couldn’t get “You’ve Got Time”, the Grammy-nominated opening credits theme song by Regina Spektor, out of my head. So, I decided to put together this parody video in which I replaced faces of prison inmates with those of famous animals, famous animals. Watch, watch, watch, until your joy is full.

The song is copyright 2013 Sire Records, a record label owned by Warner Music Group and distributed by Warner Bros. Records, and was produced by Rob Cavallo.

I downloaded large sized images of each character and cropped them to display either their eyes or their mouth and imported them to iMovie. I then stripped the audio track from the opening credits video posted online and added to my video. The toughest part was trying to match the timing and pacing of images to the song and the original video. I considered recording a parody of the track, but couldn’t find an appropriate instrumental version to record over, however, if my version is taken down due to copyright (right now, it’s being monetized by WMG, which I’m totally cool with), I’ll have to give it a shot.
