‘Fifty Shades of Jeremy Grey’ Will Help You Slip Out Of The Ordinary On Valentine’s Day

Hey, here’s the fake movie trailer I created for Fifty Shades of Jeremy Grey using iMovie on my Macbook Pro laptop. It’s a parody of the Fifty Shades of Grey and Fifty Shades Darker movies that features Jeremy Grey, the character played by Vince Vaughn in Wedding Crashers.

I’ve had this idea for a while, dating back to 2012 when the first Fifty Shades movie released and I thought I’d completely missed the boat on doing this video. Fortunately, the erotic film adaptation raked in nearly $600 million at the box office and we got Fifty Shades Darker, which was on top of the box office Friday of opening weekend. I knew had to jump on it, jump on it, jump on it. So, I cued… queued?… up The Sugarhill Gang’s “Apache” and got to it.

I had a lot of fun putting Fifty Shades of Jeremy Grey together. To this day, Wedding Crashers still makes me laugh way too loud. I must’ve replayed the Motorboating scene a thousand times while doing this project. Of course, it didn’t make it into the final cut, but it’s a phenomenal piece of comedic acting. Vaughn almost runs the entire gamut of emotions – joy, excitement, titillation, disgust, rage, contempt, pain, shame – in a little under two minutes.

When I first heard there was going to be a Wedding Crashers sequel, I was pumped out of my mind. Isla Fisher, the actress who played Gloria, let it slip in an interview with The Today Show that Wedding Crashers 2 was in the works back in November 2016. Not sure how “In the works” it is considering Vince Vaughn merely mentioned it to Fisher in passing at a party. But, I have to nod in understanding when the article’s author raises some very valid questions like “Why?” and “How?”

Quick side note: Fisher was promoting Nocturnal Animals, which I need to see “as ASAP as possible” as my wife says.

Since Wedding Crashers, Vaughn really hasn’t delivered a performance on par with Jeremy Grey. Don’t get it twisted, I definitely enjoyed parts of The Break-Up, Four Christmases, Fred Claus, and Couples Retreat. I haven’t seen The Internship and couldn’t really get into Delivery Man. I also wanted more from Unfinished Business.

With his roles in True Detective Season 2 and Hacksaw Ridge, it seems Vaughn’s gone astray from comedy, but fingers crossed he’s setting up an epic comeback with Wedding Crashers 2.

There are no plot details as of yet, but according to IMDB, the sequel will be released again by New Line Cinema, but will have a new production company: Van Brand. They’re the group that produced “Fist Fight” starring Charlie Day, Ice Cube, Tracy Morgan and Jillian Bell (from Workaholics, The Night Before, Idiot Sitter). When I first saw Fist Fight’s trailer, I was not into it. But, it could be a nice flick to watch hungover on demand to scare off the Sunday Scaries.

The writers for Wedding Crashers 2 will be Van Robichaux and Evan Susser. That duo co-wrote Fist Fight and the story for the upcoming Sonic the Hedgehog movie that’s set to release in 2018. New Line is also releasing a movie adaptation of the popular ’80s video game Rampage, which I absolutely loved growing up. I actually got to play the arcade version a few times at various Barcades (NYC, Columbus, Denver) and my mouth and eyes ran out of moisture.

Anyway, hope you liked the video! Let me know if there any videos you’d like to see and I’ll whip it up and crank it out. Ew.
